Anyone have recent dealings with Argent Asset Group or Bob Paul Coins? They are advertising a number of coins on the Collector's Corner website. On that site, they are listed as a Delaware company, but their website is listed as bobpaulrarecoins.com, which appears to be a coin shop in Philadelphia and part of a business group called Abauniverse.

Doing a little searching on the web, there appears to be Argent Group, Argent Asset Group, and Argent Precious Metals, which are related. Not sure how Bob Paul and Abauniverse fit in. The CEO of Argent Group is Robert Higgins. Argent and Mr. Higgins had a lawsuit filed against them in Florida last year claiming they were not returning silver to clients who entrusted them to hold it in an IRA. I don't know the merits or outcome of the suit.

So, should I sent them a check for a coin?

Coin collecting is a hobby, not an investment strategy.

@Burton Strauss III might be able to help. The only dealings I've had with them are in person at Long Beach. And I believe they own the rights to the 4th edition of The Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace Dollars. Aside from that I don't know much about them. Can you pay by credit card so you can dispute the charge if anything goes awry?

True, but I would like to receive a coin if I send a check.

Apparently I can use a credit card, which is a good thought. I'll have to see if if it affects the price.

Nearly nothing to do with this, but Delaware has very lax corporate tax laws - lots of companies are "based" in Delaware for tax reasons, despite the physical location.

Even if it's 3-4% more, you likely have a 1-2% rewards card and the additional safety of buying with the card is sometimes worth the extra money.

That place is on my normal "health walk" and I've walked past it literally a hundred times or more, most recently less than a week ago. It's a "We buy gold" type operation, I think. Never walked in, never seen anyone walk in or out, never seen a coin in the display window, and those two Red Books on the lower shelf are yellowed from years of exposure.

This is the first I've known about a website associated with that address; I've long since abandoned thoughts about visiting their B&M "presence."

I bought a single toned Morgan from the Bob Paul shop in Philadelphia a couple years ago without issue. If I remember correctly I found it on a very slow website but he didn't have online ordering so I called him to order. He commented at the time that his website wasn't up to date. That's my only experience with him.

I own the store at 619 South Street. Bob Paul has had in the past an office upstairs which has not been used for many years now.

This store has no affiliation with the Argent group or Bob Paul Rare coins. My hours are Monday thru Friday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm

And no its not just a gold buying operation. It is a legitimate coin store.. I would appreciate it if you would do some research before slandering me in the post.

Entering 'bob paul coins' comes up with your address and storefront photo.

and the website still has the address prominently at the top:

Apparently he did not update the address on his website.

If you google the actual name on the awning South Street Coins you will see for yourself I own the store.

Maybe the health walks are before the 11:00 am open which is part of the confusion. It's a shame the other guy is still using the address.

This past January, I bought three slabbed Franklin 65 FBLs from the Bob Paul web site using PayPal. I had no trouble with the transaction or shipping. The coins were as good as shown. I would buy from them again.

I live in Philly and can vouch for the Coin shop- - nice guy and fair prices from what I've seen but I deal more in World coins honestly.
