3 of my buffalos look like the 3 legged ones. Can someone tell me if its possible it has 5 legs on my 3 buffalo nickels or can it be new discovery ? 1920 1925 and 1936
Please show both sides of the coin in full frames and not thumbnails. I can’t tell anything from the pictures of the screen.
Only the '37D has the 3-legged variety. The '36 has a variety for 3 1/2 legs. Your huge magnified photos are impossible to read and we can't tell what date is what. There has been in the past (I'm talking the 1950's and 60's) where some folks turned their "normal" '37 D Buffs into 3 legged ones with some personal modifications and then artificially made them appear well worn. Oh, I'm sorry. I thought that your (capthank) post was a photo from the starter of the thread on the Buffalos. That's why I expounded on the magnified photos. And, no, the OP doesn't have any 5 legged ones. And, Capthank, you have a great coin. I had one of them back in the early 70's but had student loans and most of my US stuff went Bye bye.
heres the 3 buffalos that are on both sides now and to see the extra thickness on the left foot side, not on the 2nd leg thats a 5 legged
I found this in a coin bank that had 65 Buffalo nickels. First really special coin I found in the rough, so I'll keep it.
Salvatore ... I see no doubling of any leg, but there MAY be some MD on the Liberty, or what's left of it. Sorry. Take a look in a Red Book to see what the Buffalo is supposed to look like. Your coins are nice to keep as an oddity since they are, or are approaching, 100 years old, but I really see nothing really out of sorts.
SO U DONT THINK IF i SEND IT IN, IT MIGHT BE 5 LEGGED NEW EDITIONS TO BUFFALOS, i FORGOT TO SAY tHERE BEEN OTHER LOOKING ONES ON 1916-S AND 1927 S, CHECK IT OUT IN VARIETY VISTER DOUBLING ON LEFT LEG
