Been doing some more research on my Louis the 14th Medals. This Medal with the Latin for Speedy Victory has interesting History.1658 France. The Civil War in England had ended. Charles the 2nd was in exile and allied himself with Philip the 4th from Spain. Oliver Cromwell allied with Louis. The Battle of the Dunes (1658) was a battle of the Franco-Spanish War and Anglo-Spanish War fought near Dunkirk in the Spanish Netherlands between the Spanish army and the allied armies of France and the Commonwealth of England.
Great looking medals up there, I really like the Mother & baby medal from WW1! That's a beauty! Here's one I picked up off of feebay for a tidy sum! That means I didn't get a steal of a deal on this one but it's one of those that I had to have! I'm sure y'all can relate to "one of those that I had to have!" Anyways, it's a P. Whitlock tobacco expo souvenir with Uncle Remus on it. You see very few tokens with Uncle Remus on them so I just had to have it! When you get a few minutes, check out how a Polish man turned a failing Tobacco company into a winner of the times, see link under the token. Sweet! http://cigarhistory.info/Cigar_companies-brands/Old-Virginia-Cheroots.html
Thought this was an interesting medal. 1910 Portuguese revolution. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5_October_1910_revolution
Back to WWI, well the medal was a bit later and done by the Art Deco standard Pierre Turin. Interestingly the obverse was reworked and reused in the 1950s for another medal (an insurance company??) where the word 'Victoire' was replaced by clouds, and a tiny landscape added.
UPDATE So I thought I was buying 2 as shown in the Top image, what I received is what you see in the 2nd & 3rd images. Oh well I should have paid better attention to the description. Would it have made any difference, no I would have purchased then any how, as the they we cheap enough.
Kinda had to have this one. Germany 1860's Gaming token Imitation of British Farthing Produced by Lauer
Here's a couple more, the Odd Fellows Medal weighed in at around 26 grams of sterling silver, not bad for less than $5 I paid on the bay. Of course, that hardly ever happens to me, but when it does, I feel like having a beer! The Temperance token I got delivered today, looks just like the pics. Nice grade for a Temperance token most are battered, at least the ones I see for sale. The last pic is to have a Happy Superbowl Day!! and don't too much! ~Cheers!
