Ya know cascade, i dont recall you creating many GtG threads lately? You should totally post like 5-10 different Morgans and lets see who the true GtG champ is on CT. That would be fun, well for all of us anyway, not so much fun 4 you
As always- these threads are brougtht to life by Miller High Life..... Miller, go grab one, why? Because im buzzed right now
Been there, done that, got the tee shirt. Only I used 600+. BTW, depending on when you looked, people such as Irish2Ic, and ldhair were the champ.
I'd say it was undergraded... MS63/63* (no PL although it sure looks like a PL coin) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And here is the reveal. It's an NGC MS-64 no PL designation. I was shocked it wasn't a 65 or PL or even a * for crying out loud. She is a very pretty lady for 64 money. The fields shout PL to me, I think the grader had just got his attorney's bill from the divorce when he graded this one.
I wouldve instantly paid 64 $$$ for that one, had i spied it in a dealers case. Reminds me of a new holdered MS 64 PCGS Morgan i once purchased. 1880s, similar to yours it was undergraded and shouldve made PL. Its true, they do grade the early S mints much tougher than all other dates.
I saw this one and compared it directly to a PCGS 65 right next to it, they looked nearly identical. I asked myself, $70.00 for this NGC 64 or $160.00 for this PCGS 65? Hmmmmm, oh yeah buy the coin and not the holder.
Oh gosh, I'm too late. Anyway, fantastic photography, again, as usual. They didn't like the aged dies that struck that baby is the only reason I can see that kept her out of gem.
Those were fun times. Your images were great. That made it easy. Those threads were the most well ran guessing contest I have ever seen on any forum.
