It took a few weeks to start seeing 2025 nickels in circulation This Nickel has what looks like a bubble through the reverse on Monticello, I don't know what's going on other than pre laminatition?
Looks like it may be what the error experts here call a linear plating blister. From @paddyman98: Plating Blisters
Well, it's not a Die Clash, Break or Crack, nor Lamination. And I highly doubt it's Post Mint Damage. Nickels aren't plated, so it isn't a plating blister either. Like @Jersey magic man said, something must have scraped across the die. https://www.error-ref.com/die-gouges/ https://www.error-ref.com/die-scrapes/
I'm in the die gouge camp. It wasn't deep enough to impact Monticello, which appear to be struck normally. Something to look for, if I ever get any 2025 coins...
Looks to me to be minted by a die that had some minor damage. The metal was forced into the space and appears raised on the coin. Nice find!
Thanks everyone for the feedback, die gouge was also in the realm of possibility of what I was thinking but it's hard to keep all the error and varieties in the old noggin lol.
