Fake Morgans?

I have been collecting coins for 62 years. I have reported many counterfeit and altered coins to ebay and still see them listed and not removed. EBay is more interested in their bottom line collecting fees. I just bought two coins from eBay seller which were counterfeit. I got my money back and they are off the market. I do this from time to time to take the coins off the market and get my money back at the same time. I use VAMWorld.com primarily to compare the die diagnostics of genuine coins. There are two bids on this coin already. eBay is doing nothing about it and it has been reported to them. I also consult for government authorities on counterfeit and altered coins. Don P above has given good advice. Buyer beware on eBay. There are at least three 1885-CC that are counterfeit on eBay right now. Buy graded or from a reputable dealer. If the seller does not offer a refund, RUN. Remember there was only one obverse die used for the 1893-S and two reverse dies. As for the coins you posted. They don't match any know diagnostics. Also if they look cast, PASS.

Thank you for your advice. I will take your advice. I am a trustworthy seller on Ebay but learning that not everyone is, which is very unfortunate. What is disturbing is that Ebay is not being proactive in keeping counterfeiters off their site.

 

What about this one 302194328902 being sold by nickels444? 8 tail feathers from Carson City mint?

 

They all have the same reverse die. Note the defect on the dentical above the E in STATES. Same defect on all three coins.

If you go to Vamworld.com you will see that this coin pictured is genuine and an 1878 VAM1 based on the diagnostics. http://www.vamworld.com/1878-P+VAM-1 note the die scratch from the E in One to the D in Dollar. I don't see the CC mintmark but believe they have a listing error. The listing is a genuine 8 TF but their writeup is incorrect where they mention Carson City. Either a typo or someone is not very well versed on listing coins correctly. They mention the coin pictured is the one you get. The coin pictured retails for $215.

 

Thank you very much for educating me on this coin. I clicked on the link and saw all the details you mentioned. I figured the write up was incorrect but when the seller never responded when I wrote them, I began to wonder. I like this coin despite its dings in the rim. I feel much better about its legitimacy.
