I saw this 1798 (Half Dollar?) on MyCollect Guess the Grade. What is going on with the area around the date?
Hmm. That's strange there. Beat the crap out of me. Calling error expert @paddyman98. Oh, is he sleeping because he's going detecting in the morning?
I think you have a 1798 draped bust large eagle dollar coin. looks like some kind of die clash around the date but have no clue as to what the clash is.
It looks like a significant die break which is probably a diagnostic for a specific die variety. The coin is a bust dollar, and I remember seeing that mark before. I’ll look it up tomorrow.

But here's another one that looks the same but attributed as B-29, BB-113. So now I'm clueless. https://coins.ha.com/itm/early-doll...a/420-1064.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
LOL - this is obverse B-13 which is used on B-26,27,28,29, 30, 31 and 33. All have different reverses - I eliminated 26,27,28,30 and 33. So going with B-29 because of star-to-beak and plus what it says about weak stars.
