    Thanks! The Velázquez painting refers to a siege by the Spanish on the city of Breda in 1624, which resulted in the surrender of the city and its incorporation into the Spanish Netherlands, an event in the Eighty Years War that ultimately led in 1648 to the Treaty of Münster and independence of the Dutch Republic from Spain.

    This Potosi 8 reales cob, due to the crude strike, has a clear date for 1634 on the cross side. Sometimes sloppiness pays off!
