It has some environmental damage, but I don't know if it warrants a details grade or not. I think it has AU sharpness.
It'd be AU, better side of details, slight environmental damage. It's a really nice coin. About $350 in XF.
That is a pretty decent counterfeit, Larry. Much easier to tell this one is a fake compared to the (also fake) 1870 you just posted.
This 1869 is a better fake than the 1870. The counterfeiter fell down with denticles, which they often do. The fade away at the top of the obverse and lack definition elsewhere. Here is the fake. And here is a genuine piece.
