its a fake/photo shop...the 72ddo slants to the 5 o'clock position-ish, your deceptive waste of time goes northward.
from the evidence put forth so far, yes...we need to see it better. your liberty seems fine, and the 19 of the 1979 seems fine also
There isn't enough evidence at this point to say conclusively one way or the other, but I can't help but to wonder why it is seemingly so difficult for you to post better/other photos. Is that money still burning a hole in your pocket and this another eBay find?
well, this is on Etsy. here is the link; https://www.etsy.com/listing/477640...search_query=1972 double die&ref=sr_gallery_1 (I have a good amount of money; I am saving most of it)
Saving most of it is certainly good to hear, but still, do be very careful with what you do spend, making sure it's something special that you'll hopefully be able to enjoy for a while. As for the coin, the spread (from what I can see anyway) looks right, but there's just something that bothers me, even if I can't quite put my finger on it. With less than ideal photos (to put it lightly) it's always best to err on the side of caution. Unless the seller is willing to send you better photos, I'd pass. The seller has mostly over-fluffed junk and presents his wares in most unflattering ways. Shooting coins sitting on some sort of colored light may sound "cool" to some, but is beyond poor for someone presenting themselves as a business (as he is, even on esty). Oy...
Thanks for the your reply! I will not buy it. From now on I don't think I will buy coins from Ebay & Etsy, etc.
Please don't get me wrong, Andy; I'm not trying to dissuade you from buying in general or from any particular venue, but only to be very careful and look at the overall picture as opposed to just the coin. Unlike many of us here, your age and newness to the hobby gives you the opportunity to not make many of the mistakes we have, but only if you're willing. Good coins can be found anywhere, and sometimes in the least expected places, but knowing how to "read the coin" is key. You're very smart in your approach of asking questions, but if serious about this hobby, I do hope you'll invest in yourself. No coin you could buy now will ever be as valuable as the knowledge will be that you can earn now. Now, may I ask what about this coin interested you the most? Is it the type (cent), the fact that it's a variety (doubled dies, RPMs, etc) or is it this particular variety?
