I recently participated in an auction of classic commemoratives. I had my eye on a few nice half dollars and got outbid on every single one. The last coin that had caught my eye was this insanely beautiful 1915-S MS62 gold dollar. I was certain that I'd be outbid as with the other several lots I'd bid on. Figured, no harm and tossed what I considered a lowball bid... And here's the latest win Beyond excited for this little fellow to join the collection Hoping to get the half dollar and quarter eagle in the next few years. Do you have any of the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition commemoratives -- please share!
Nice pick-up. I sold off most of my commemoratives this past spring. I did keep the $1, $2.50 and the half dollar from the Pan Pac series. I can only get a decent photo of the Half Dollar. I also kept back the Isabella Quarter, the Lafayette Dollar, the Hawaiian Half Dollar and two Hudson Halves which belong to my wife. My wife is from Hudson and her Mom picked up the half dollars when they first came out. MS-64
Right?! Like most of my collection, I'm certain the experts under-graded this one Nice! Those are a fantastic 7x (well, 8x...) to keep from the set. I'm half way through the 50-coin classic silver set; recently acquired Lafayette and Isabella. Hawaiian is the next "big" one I need to save for
