    1638 Metz taler
Interesting historical note - both city and bishopric lost minting rights in Peace of Westphalia at conclusion of Thirty Year War in 1648. Final coinage issued in 1660.

The date is a little weak on this cob, but I think it is 1636. There's a suggestion of a 6 (last numeral of date) just past 11 o'clock on the reverse. The style of the lions and castles puts the coin in the mid to late 1630s.

This coin came out the CNG eAuction 576, lot 795.

Viceroyalty of Peru, Philip IV, Potosi, 8 reales, 1636 T.
    KM 19a
    26.24 grams

    D-Camera Potosi 8 reales Philip IV 1636 T weak date KM 19a 26.24g 7-4-25.jpg
