I finally received the last of 2016 purchases. Don't know where it got hung up, but atleast all are accounted for.
This little guy I has some nice color to it. Which didn't show in the seller photo. But it seems like I get to much or to little light. Improvement is in progressing. :D
I will get a Tet atleast silver eventually but this was within budget.
    I'm happy with it anyways.
No reason to go into a history lesson on this. I'm sure even a non collectors know who Alexander III is.

Here is how it looked when I first got it. Dry I put a drop of verdicare and let it sit a few days on a paper towel.

You have improved the look quite a bit, good job. I have one that I have never posted, not as nice as yours but got it real cheap a few years ago. ALEXANDER III.jpg ALEXANDER 111.jpg

Hadn't heard of Verdi-care before... sounds intriguing. Anybody else use it?

I use it routinely on bronze coins with any sign of corrosion (so most of them :D)

The chemist who came up with it is a coin collector (moderns) and is a CoinTalk member, @BadThad.

Great coins all, nice score Smojo. Really like these types. I use Verdi care on all my bronze too. This was among my first ancient coins I got. alexanderthegreat2.jpg alexanderthegreatrev.jpg Alexander the Great (Herakles/horseman type) bronze, four chalkoi (hemiobol), AE19, 5.5g, Macedonia, c. 323-317 BC

Cool posts!! Everyone should have a few coins of Alexander!

Naturally, I went after a modest bronze and silver (drachm) of Alexander as well as a few Tets of his successors....but still need a Tet of AL.

    My modest bronze and drachm:

    alexander obverse.JPG alexander reverse.JPG Alexander drachm obverse - Copy.JPG

The bronze is considered a 'life-time' issue while the drachm is not and both were purchased cheaply on FAC.

    Sorry, just had to :D.

Nice green OP... I see what you're saying about the colour and like it! An AtG AE is on the list and I'd be very happy with one like yours.

My two possibly lifetime (or early posthumous) tets are modest examples in the $150 range.

I collect mostly bronze and rarely use any products other than Renaissance Wax. It works well for coins with soft patinas. Has anyone used both and if so which do you prefer?

Thanks Zumbly, I wouldn't mind a nice modest tet like yours.

@ancientone I don't know about the wax. I've never tried it, but it seems I've read posts here of people cleaning it off ancients for some reason or another.
As far as verdicare goes its worked very well on the ancients and moderns I've used it on

I only have two such coins and attribution is difficult for me because it's out of my collecting area. If anyone could attribute these with greater precision, I'd be most grateful!
