I wanted to share a few more additions with you all. I've almost got as many coins the month than I did all of 2016 and feel a bit indulgent

This first is a a FTR galley type of Constans. A little worn but with excellent style.

Constans AE3. 248-250 AD. D N CONSTANS P F AVG, diademed, cuirassed bust right, A behind / FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Constans standing left on galley, holding Victory and labarum, piloted by Victory, A to left, star in right field. Mintmark dot ASIS dot.
    Siscia
    RIC VIII 256, A

The next, just another FH. I got it cheap.

FEL TEMP RE-PARATIO soldier spearing Horseman, bearded, 2 braids, reaching, reaching

This one of Probus is the most sentimental. A friend of my family had passed away whom had a small collection of ancients, and his wife gave me this one. The silvering made for a difficult time photographing it.

PROBUS AE silvered antoninianus. Antioch mint. IMP C M AVR PROBVS AVG, radiate draped bust right. Reverse - CLEMENTIA TEMP, Probus standing left holding eagle-tipped scepter, receiving globe from Jupiter, who stands right holding scepter. A pellet between, XXI in exergue.

I like the first example the most (amazingly, I don't have a galley-example "yet")

I have already posted most of my other purchases for this month on other threads except this denarius of Commodus. Not the best example of him as Hercules but one I have wanted for a while....

I totally agree about the nice style on that galley example, Randy. Nice style on Jwt708's grandpa Constantius too.

Here's my newest addition (T. Quinctius Flamininus. Denarius circa 126. Helmeted head of Roma r.; behind, apex and before, X. Rev. The Dioscuri galloping r.; below, Macedonian shield between T – Q. In exergue, ROMA). I like the historical connection to T. Quinctius Flamininus sr., who triumphed over Macedon and "saved" Greece:

And Mikey gives me an excuse to post my Commodus as Hercules as:

    Screen Shot 2017-01-28 at 1.50.33 PM.png

That was a huge purchase for me back in the day, from NFA. And it arrived with a filled flan crack (obv. 3:00), totally unmentioned in the description and not apparent in the photo. Grrrr. But I loved it anyway and still do.
