An 1864 Indian Head Centesimi. Looks in nice condition and going on one main reason, the liberty legend and how clear it is , I am going to risk a low grade Very Fine Appreciate any comments Allan
So many people tend to overgrade coins. I like to conservatively grade coins myself so I agree with VF.
Visible detail in feather tips, hair detail in the lowest curl and a bold necklace. I say XF for sure.
I would grade this a VF as LIBERTY is not that sharp. While it’s strong even slight wear makes this a VF grade.
XF, but it looks like a TPG might say it's had an old cleaning. The color looks a bit odd to me on the high spots. Certainly I'm no expert, and can easily be wrong on this.
I personally would go upper end of VF and maybe squeak out XF40 at like a TPG. I do believe the wear I see limits it to VF, but in hand could be a different opinion.
Cleaned a little bit, but this series has a history of of people trying to improve it's beauty. I like that the L is easy to see; that's the biggest thing going for this coin. Reverse is XF45 all day long. The obverse has wear and tear that is VF. still give it a XF all together. Thumbs up on your coin. Regards, Mike.
Very nice coin Allan. I like to see at least a hint of the line between the bottom of the ribbon and the hair for XF - VF35 for me.
It’s an easy EF. If you grade it any lower, you are leaving money on the table. The “LIBERTY” is sharp, and you even have diamonds on the ribbon. You do realize that it is an 1864-L.
I didn't say you cleaned it or asked if you cleaned it. The coin is 160 years old, someone may have cleaned it before it came into your possession.
