The were so many options on collecting the ATB Quarters. I wanted to put them all in one location. There were the P. D, Proof and S Mint Circulation Grade. I had to improvise. I decided to use CAPs pages. Here are a couple of photos of the finished project.
Yeah, I only have a Weir Farm one, but I've got over a hundred rolls to go through in a few months and hope to find a couple more. I'm trying to figure out which book to store/display them in, but I don't do the proofs, only true circulating coins so that makes it a bit easier.
I just checked. It weighs 7 pounds. It was a fun project. The biggest issue was the US Mint changed styles of capsules towards the end of the run. I had to do some modifications. And, I don't think I will try another similar project.
It's cool that you built the whole set... how many coins is that? Probably close to 200? That is an accomplishment for sure. I'll be honest... the only ATB quarter I bought was for my own state. I wasn't interested in this series after the initial state quarter fatigue. I did go to the release ceremony for this quarter because it was in my hometown, and that was kinda cool. Got a couple of raw quarters as handouts, have them in a folder somewhere. I later bought PL examples of the regular and the 5 oz.
I finished the first 5 years of the State Quarter coins in a Dansco album, proofs and silver issues. I have the coins and the album for the second 5 years but decided to stop.
Depending on if you include the 5 oz silver coins, there are either 280 or 336 coins in the set. You'll need at least all the P, D, uncirculated S, clad S, and silver S coins. I'd understand for anyone to exclude the 5 oz coins - combined, that's over $10,000 in silver. A full clad set could still cost $100 or more, depending on what one is willing to pay for a proof. That's only if you find the P and D roll hunting - locating all 112 of those in BU through bank rolls is an accomplishment in itself.
Back when the series started the mint offered a 3 coin set subscription. The coins were in capsules. I signed up and received all of them.
I thought so. I saw an Ebay listing for $8.95 for a set like this- a prime indicator of a clad set due to the shipping costs.
I guess I didn't realize the S mint coins came in so many varieties! Did the proofs come in clad and silver? Did you include the 5oz silvers in your collection? Because I feel like to be "complete" you need to.
The proofs were in both clad and silver, yes. In fact, I've never owned all 280 coins outside of the 5 oz silvers, which I have yet to own one of. I've had some of the silver proofs, some clads, a couple of S's, and probably every single P and D, the last 2 I obtained from circulation, of course. The most memorable of mine were an uncirculated 2015-S Saratoga that was found in a roll, and a 2012-S clad quarter proof set I got for $2.
