At one point in my life I discovered an 1873-S Seated Half in A Heritage Auction that was in a small white ANAC holder and the holder did not have the "S" on it.
I cannot even remember the sequence of events but out of the blue i got a page long letter from Mr. Bowers. He congratulated me on spotting the "S" when no one else did.
He told me he had used the mistake to tease some woman who was apparently the head of ANAC at the time (circa 2006). To this day it is something that makes me both humbled and proud.
Unfortunately, my crazy wife who considers just about everything not in immediate use to be clutter threw it away. I left for work and stupidly left it on the dining room table. Which reminds me, it has been some time since I told her just how mad that makes me. james

Here are a couple of Civil War Store Cards that were once part of Dave Bower's reference collection. I am proud to be the custodian of these two coins that were once studied by the Dean of American numismatics.
