"Cuds" involve the rim. This is neither Cud nor a doubled die. Perhaps you were thinking die break or chip? It is die deterioration and not an error. But keep looking, eventually you will find a good one.

 

That's just how the hot die lifted off that warmed planchet. They grease these dies, the dies run so hot. Find a YouTube video, see how they mint these. You'll learn more from that than listening to us carry on.
