There’s a 1891-CC Morgan up for auction on Great Collections in a PCGS Bee Frame holder. The link is below. I have no interest in this coin as bidder or consignor but had never heard of this type of PCGS holder. It’s rather striking. The motif is a holographic honeycomb. The label on one side states “Trader Bea”. A little investigation showed Trader Bea is a WhatNot seller also known as Bjorn & Mamabea. Apparently, they also had similar NGC holders produced. I have zero interest in buying from them but found the holder interesting. The coins in their holders may be cheaper in the secondary market. Maybe I'll catch flak for saying this but I have no interest in having one of them holders. Looks too childlike or feminine to me!
I don't have any particular objections to the particular design, but I don't find any appeal in a vanity slab celebrating someone else's vanity.
I aquired one of those recently myself.. Not a big fan of the holder but very happy with it's contents
I'm tired of all of the gimmicky variants, PCGS . . . gotta make special holders because you can't capture enough market share with your core competency? Or is making gimmicky holders your core competency?
I don't mind the slab but would not go out of my way to acquire one (nor would I crack one to get it out of the slab if I did get one).
