Hey @C-B-D did you get a 1917 overstrike with your 3 reeded edge 999 HTT's? Being a broken sword reverse design which is more like a quazi-pattern plus the fantasy date it really is more different than any typical overstrike you guys loathe. Plus the historic nature. I would suggest you don't pass it up
I did not. I actually didn't like the 1917 date on it for some reason. It just didn't speak to me, plus I feared a high mintage and the high price.
High mintage won't mean much. The 64d peace had close to 2k and look how well it does and look how little are for sale at any given time. The 2009 "proofed" silver eagle is double that and look how well it does and how little are for sale at any given time. Honestly I don't think the mintage will be that big. Bigger than most maybe but probably in the 3-figures somewhere. Might go in the low 4. Who knows. This is just a guess though. And the history behind this piece is amazing. Plus if, or maybe I should say when, the publications start publishing Dan finding the bronze casting and creating these the interest will skyrocket. I'd hedge my bets if I were you. Just a suggestion
If you say so... The person the post was clearly directed towards will understand. Beyond that you're more than welcome to see whatever you please even though it had absolutely nothing to do with you or anything you said.
I'm hoping I get mine by Friday or Saturday, they shipped today. I'll post some photos for sure. This order has the 2 ounce token and the 1/10th ounce gold owl. I'm excited about the gold owl. I'll probably get ANACS to grade it and the '17 O/S.
I still prefer the 50 mintage one. You'll see one of mine hit eBay for moon money when I get it. (Although, my 3 have not shipped yet).
That's only when they are still available and are moving too fast with a low mintage or if the system oversold before he caught it. I highly doubt he would not send because of a post like that. He's a good guy. Not sure why J would say that. Maybe he was just joshing you.
He IS a good guy, but it has happened in the past. Not to be mean, but to try to make it more fair to others that missed out. With the 2 ounce bars that sold so fast, he knocked down orders higher than 2 to just 2, so that a few more people could get some. My comment basically was saying don't jinx yourself
I'll just say that if that happens, then it's poor selling practices & unfair to the buyer. I could have bought all 13 that were left instead of my 3. So, in fact, I think I was being quite fair.
Question: Did he intentionally make the central hair detail weak on the high relief 1917... like a genuine 1921? Or did he just run into the same problem the US Mint did?
Btw, just for kicks, I put 200 of those clashed die Morgans in my shopping cart on his site. It didn't stop me. My total would have been $25k. Plus shipping.
I'm guessing he ran into the same problem. And possibly exacerbated by using an already struck coin as a planchet. The photo really enhances it though just like the breast feathers on the Morgan. In hand it looks damn well struck with only the slightest of weakness. To say I am amazed is an understatement
Wish I had $25k lol. I think he doesn't limit it unless or until he has a specific limit in mind. Try putting 1000 or 2000 in and I bet it would let you yet we all know he's not going over 1,964 of all types.
