I was at summer camp walking around looking for something when I saw something shiny. I saw was appeared to be a a circular, blank piece of metal. I turned it over and saw an unmistakable, worn, Barber reverse design !!! I turned it over, and after looking closer, saw that it was the Barber obverse design. Later that day, in better lighing and with a loupe, I saw that it was a 1908-D or 1909-D(it's too worn to tell) It's not every day that you find a Barber quarter lying in a field of grass. It must of been there since before school was over. I reckon that was a pretty good day!:kewl: :mouth:
Who knows? I don't know why the person had it in their pocket, but I do know that it probably fell out of the kid's pocket during P.E.(the field is where we can go after we run the track during P.E. during the school year)
Coinman101, That is beyond cool! One of my older brothers once found an 1897 Barber dime at the beach and gave it to me (like 35 years ago). I prized that worn coin for years. Well, we're all getting older now and his kids are all grown. The youngest (now 21) has a bit of interest in coins. Several years ago I gave him the 1897 to keep it in the family. Is it worth much? NO. Is it worth much to us? A RESOUNDING YES! Keep that coin until you can hand it down! clembo
The chances of finding a Barber Quarter in circulation are almost zilch, but here OP didn't even have to pay 25¢ to find his. That is awesome.
