Like the title says, guess the date of this Buffalo Nickel. I put it in vinegar less than an hour ago so I don't know the answer myself.

    I'm going to guess, 1919

Too much wear to be anything but a candidate for the next hobo nickel.

It is still marinating. If he forgets about it, it might dissolve completely

Usually for a Buffalo in AG condition, it takes 3-4 days.

Yes it will! From what I've heard It would take over 6 months to totally dissolve.

Besides white vinegar, you need to add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide.
The date will come up and it doesn't take very long at all. But the coin will be etched.

Do you have a picture of one? I'd like to see the results.

Not sure as to exact date but hopefully you've got a teen nickel. I've acid-treated quite a few and most dateless ones are in the teens. ;)

If you leave it in too long, or add too much peroxide the whiteness is noticeable.
But the date comes out almost 100% of the time.

Looks like something from the 1920s.
1928 was a common date. I am on that.
