2014 D Nickel Planchet error?

    Looks like it was glued to something at some point in time.

    it's not glue, the fields have multiple levels of metal. the small field by God is the lowest, then the big field by we trust is a little higher, then the highest is is the left side of jeffersons head, but then there is also that small piece missing on the far left side

    I have that same 2014 D. I searched for more info on the web to no avail.
    Does anyone know about this nickel?

    Wow ! I see that this is a old thread from 2017 . It is amazing that none of the so called experts replied to this thread. This would have been during the time I was off here. I can see why they avoided this one , It appears to have a lot going on. This is one awesome looking coin . It it is not glue or something on the coin then my opinion is that it may have been struck with a severe damaged obverse die. I would love to be able to see this coin in hand .

    Yeah that's odd. Surprised nobody asked for the weight,... design creep? Fractured planchet before the strike? Seems like it should come up short some weight and likely just bad planchet stock before the strike.
    This is out of my wheelhouse.
