Like the title says, guess the date of this Buffalo Nickel. I put it in vinegar less than an hour ago so I don't know the answer myself. I'm going to guess, 1919
Usually for a Buffalo in AG condition, it takes 3-4 days. Yes it will! From what I've heard It would take over 6 months to totally dissolve.
Besides white vinegar, you need to add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide. The date will come up and it doesn't take very long at all. But the coin will be etched.
Not sure as to exact date but hopefully you've got a teen nickel. I've acid-treated quite a few and most dateless ones are in the teens.
If you leave it in too long, or add too much peroxide the whiteness is noticeable. But the date comes out almost 100% of the time.
