I am sure many of us have them. Show them off! I've worn this one daily for 30 years. Why? I dont know precisely other than it was a coin I wasnt afraid of ruining. I dont really like it much, but I guess I am simply used to it. Gold bezel around bronze, I never liked it but I never bothered to take it out either! Another I've have maybe 30 years, I dont like it but again I am used to it and dont care to remove and sell the coin. It sits neglected and certainly unloved in my valet atop my dresser.
I don't have any jewelry made from coins. The only coin jewelry that I like are the coin watches. Never seen one done with ancients, but they have ones with Morgan and US gold dollars. Have also seen them make rings with coins, looks cool but I'm not sure if I would wear one.
At CICF 2016 I picked up this nice drachm of Philip III and I wear it several times a week. It's a beautiful coin and it was already in the 14k bezel. It was shockingly inexpensive and I was very happy to have it. I've wanted a coin pendant for a while but didn't want to use one of my collected coins.
Ahahaha ... my wife would toss that back at me (probably taking-out a tooth or two) Pretty cool to "us" ... but you may as well wear a phaser on your belt!! man, I love you guys
I created this in PhotoShop but it could be real. It would be easy to make. The problem that I have with ancient coin jewelry is that the jewelry mountings always look too modern and don't look like they belong with the coin. This hypothetical Judaea prutot piece shows minimal mounting hardware.
A gift from my mother - I'll admit I don't know what to do with them, as my wife certainly doesn't want them. My mother had a few others I've shared here before, but were all fake.
I thought my wife would throw this back too, but she knew the biblical story of the coin once I told her what it was and she actually wears it quite regularly. I just realized this was the first ancient coin I ever bought, but I guess it doesn't really count as it's not mine
Yea I was wearing a franklyn half dollar but the Mexican dancing chief is bigger Sent from my C6740N using Tapatalk
Here's one I had made for my sister-in-law. It's a nice denarius of Faustina. The bezel was made by Larry Grant, a friend of mine. He made a round bezel to fit the coin and soldered it to a gold plate. Then he cut out the filigree design with a jewelers saw. It was a lot of work, but he said it would make the pendant stronger.
