She's a bit uglier than I'm accustomed to...

But she's mine! Made it back to the LCS today and was able to pick up this elusive 89-CC Morgan in the raw. A bit of a risk, as this one is counterfeitted nearly as much as the 93-S, so I took to my scope right away.

I believe she's a Vam-5 but it's really tough to tell without many details left. The one concern I've got about it is the lack of any die cracks or specific die markers (due to the lack of detail) but there's nothing really that stands out to me screaming "I'm a fake!" about it, so I'm thinking I'm in the clear on this one. Weight is slightly under typical at 25.7 grams, but seems in line with the amount of wear.

What are your thoughts on this one? Think she's genuine? Anything seem off to you, aside from her appearance of putting in some rough work?

Another honorable mention for today is this Connecticut colonial copper I got. Another coin that's definitely seen use!

With "ugly" woman coins you never have to worry you got boinked with a slider. No pun intended.

All the bad has rubbed off.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Well, the 89CC Morgan has definitely been cleaned/polished very harshly, but I don't see anything that screams fake. None of the rims are worn into the tops of the lettering, which makes it a Good-4.

    I'd say it's a genuine Good-Details coin.

On another note, and referring to a coin not shown here, I have am inclined to stop by the LCS yet again to purchase a beautiful peace dollar. Maybe 63 at best, but toned very nicely. 1921, and something around $600. I'm not particularly a collector of peace dollars but she's a looker. Dunno if I'll splurge yet again... I'm already running tight on the budget, but if I can solidify another job or two I can definitely afford it.
