    Summer doldrums around here lately.........
I snagged this 1878 S Morgan several months ago. I took it to one of our local coin shows and submitted it with several others to the ANACS table and rep to send in for grading. I asked the rep's advice about grade and the other elephant in the room, and whether of not it was struck through. He didn't guess on grade but confirmed it was struck though wood, and should not cause a lesser grade.

Took a magnified coin scope photo of the strike through. Are there collectors out there that place a premium on these errors? I do not have my grades or coins back yet. What does the mind hive think?

I remember before when you posted this... I think. It was pretty cool then and still cool now, but even more interesting hearing struck through wood.

I'm sure there's someone out there who collects different "struck-through" anomalies, and wood might be up there on the list of needed items. As for value, I would rely more upon the grade than the error and go from there. Still a pretty coin though, regardless of value!

Only in the 1870’s could a coin be struck through wood. Lol
