Our CT Profiles...What gives?

I tried to look up a member's profile last week with this result:

"This member limits who may see his profile." or something like that, I forgot the exact wording. What gives? A member can post but not allow another member to open his profile?

Go to your Profile Page, click "Edit your Privacy Settings"

Under "People who May" the options for "View your details on your Profile Page" are as follows:

All Visitors
Members Only
People you Follow Only

In other words, if you aren't friends with them, you can't see their profile page if you select choice number 3.

 

@Insider , apparently someone has limited the access to their Profile to only those members they follow. I guess they don't have you on that list.

Thanks, question answered. IMO, option #3 should be eliminated! I like to know the age and numismatic qualifications of the members I make faces and colorful posts with - both those I respect and those I don't.

 

There are people here who don't have the guts to show personal details about themselves. That way, they can make nasty, unsubstantiated remarks about anyone they choose without fear of retribution. It doesn't happen often. IIRC, I've only encountered it once, and that was a few years ago.

I can see why some people restrict their profiles in light of the hazards of giving out almost any information on the Web.

I'm pretty careful with my info, but still have been pounded recently with stupid emails trying to get me to punch on a site. Maybe they'll give up since I'm not dumb enough to bite.

Ok. Fixed. You know... a couple years ago someone posted a thread about me because they couldn't PM me. Then they told me how to fix that. I don't think my birthday info is posted and I'm leaving it that way. I don't do that on any site for identity theft purposes. But I did post a while back that I was 38. So you can have that information.

Don't really get the concern. The information available when you look at any member's profile is only as good as the info they enter into their profile. A member can choose who is able to see that info.As far as the OP goes, other than the fact that he is a member since 2010 that "looks at coins a lot", we don't know anything about him either.
