I had one but the obverse was so badly tooled that I sent it back. This is a wonderful find - I’ve been looking for an untooled one for two decades but no luck -

Where in the world did you find this?

P.S. is this the one sold on Heritage - there was an early Geta that went for low four figures but I don’t think this is it but I’m not sure. The price wasn’t surprising.

Let me add again that this is a GREAT find - I printed out a copy of this for my family of Septimius scrapbook. If you check out ACSEARCH.info you can find one with Geta as Caesar with priestly objects that sold for $250 about 20 or so years ago. Heritage also sold a worn Geta as caesar - it was something other than Securitas - for over $1,000 so I was knocked out the bidding - I think I know who won and it might be up for sale again, but probably quadruple the price. I got my one example - with the brothers on horse on the reverse - through pure luck on ebay when I was checking out new sestertii on a daily basis - I bought it within hours of being posted. That single example represents almost now 21 years of scouring auction listings and putting it on favorites lists and alerting friends in the hobby to let me know if one is for sale. 21 years, one example - these are rare!

I continue to be amazed by this coin - I just posted eight coins from the same period as this one - what an amazing find!

This is a gorgeous coin - not sure I have ever seen it before. I was unaware that this reverse even existed for Geta. Presumably it would be dated to the same year as that of Septimius. I don’t recall if the British Museum has an example - I do not think so.
