There has been an uptick of long time members being hacked and posting gold or other coins at prices too good to be true. So be careful out there.
@lordmarcovan @geekpryde and anyone else who is a mod, it looks like they got Lehigh since this is the same type of post that showed up on the PCGS forum from a longtime member that got hacked.
Thank you for putting up with that clown who hacked my account. My account has been restored, but beware, this guy was able to hack every single coin account I have, NGC, PCGS, Cointalk, and Heritage. If anyone is using simple passwords for their non financial accounts, I suggest you change them. Good to be back, Paul
Were you using the same password on all those accounts? Somebody elsewhere was guessing that only one site was hacked but people use the same handle and password in multiple places. I was doing that. Heritage would be a concern since I've bought coins there!
I just got off the phone with Heritage and the phone rep said that their was no activity on my account since February 2025, so they simply sent me a password change request link. I find it too coincidental that my password would stop working on the same day that both my NGC and Cointalk accounts were compromised without outside intervention. Anyway, I am now back int control of all of my accounts that now have unique strong passwords.
I'm waiting for a call from Heritage to get mine reset as the email I used was deactivated. I hope it was by Heritage and not the hacker. I was able to beat the scammer to the punch and change things here and at NGC. PGS still having issues getting me back up. GL going forward. I wonder if things were hacked or they just got stuff from the dark web.
@Lehigh96 @BAJJERFAN The Heritage stuff concerns me more than the coin forums, since they have my eCheck info on file and it seems like someone could change my address and buy coins using my profile. The fact that they told Lehigh96 that they didn't see the activity is concerning, but perhaps they don't want to let on that they were hacked? However, I don't see any option to change my primary email, I can only add a new one, but I can't test whether I could switch to a newly added email as my primary contact since I don't have a second email address. The point here is that I changed my password there today and they immediately sent an email informing me of that. So if Lehigh96 didn't get that email when he could no longer log in, that's concerning. I'm normally a nonviolent person but this stuff makes me think the medieval punishment for things like this might give these clowns second thoughts. Make an example out of one of these Dark Web types. I'm so sick of the hacking and scamming epidemic.
