I'm totally on TIF's page ... I'd wait for a full horse (or at least the snout) However, if and when you pick one, then I'm gonna say it's awesome!! I like you, but I'd definitely wait until the next pony clip-clops by
I'd pass on both and save-up for a full horse. If impatient, or of you don't want to pay the full horse price, then #1 is better IMO.
I'm not trying to talk myself into a coin, it's an either or. I'm going to buy one or the other, but I wanted to see what others thought about my choices. It would seem, that the consensus is #1. Any other thoughts?
Only a dozen? I'm sure I have 100 coins on my VCoins watch list, many of which I can actually afford! As for your dilemma, I would either pick #1 or wait for a better one.
Bing => I bought these three Larissa examples ... and although they're not 100% symmetric, they still have enough face-and-horse to make it a no-brainer (for "me") => sure, the first example is crystalline and the horse's nose is just off flan => the second example's obverse is obviously not 100% symmetric => and the third example has a crusty-eye!! ... but "I" love all of them, so that's good enough for this guy!! => and although "I" would probably wait for a slightly more symmetric example, if "you" like those two OP-examples, then let 'er buck!! (you're the one that matters!!) Oh, and if you really need an opinion then I think I like the 2nd one a bit more than the first example (the first example's pits give me the meh's)
I would choose the #1 (better nose which is the weak spot of the Larissa drachms). Otherwise, you could wait for an eauction of CNG. They have a few ones for sale every two weeks...
If you have to choose between just these, #1. Despite the pitting the nose is a factor for most. When it is bumped or worn, well, they can be downright ugly. But for me a major factor is the horse. If its not all there, I would pass. I would not select either.
#1 for me too, because of the nose. However I have to say I'm with the others who would pass on both. I can accept a lot of junkiness in a coin, but personally would not be able to get past the missing head on the horse.
The obverse is more important on these, I think. Thus, the centering of the first would be more desirable. It also has less wear. I'm not a fan of the pitting on the reverse, but both of your selected examples have pitting. Are these the only two of this type available, or is there one with less problems that may be preferable to both of these? Personally, I think both of these have enough problems that I would say "neither." I would pass and wait for one that had everything I wanted, unless there is a very strong reason to have one now.
