Nice B-Day present! Love the IHC series. Next year, an 1856 perhaps?

Love it. Sharp strike, nice color!

If you ever tire of that one, it could come live with me! ;)

In 48 years of collecting, the highest graded Flying Eagle cent I've owned was a PCGS XF45. (Well, I did once have a holed UNC).

    Nice! IMO it is undergraded.

That coin has some pristine surfaces that even a lot of MS examples don’t have. Definitely a keeper!

This thing is beautiful in hand, I wonder if I should crack it out and send it in?

Rarely see these coins with luster and great detail.
I wouldn't crack it out. I don't feel it is a true MS coin. So what grade are you going for AU-58? I suppose there is a large difference between 55 and 58,
but it's mostly the grading companies that are profiting.

I'm in the same boat as to not cracking. While an AU 58 could bring about $100-$150 more based on eBay sales and greysheet ($315 vs $455), the CAC and old holder adds a premium that makes the upgrade much less lucrative. And greysheet confirms that as an AU 55 CAC shows as $415 vs the $455 for a non-CAC AU 58 (that difference would not cover the grading fee/shipping fees).
