    Looks like a jewelry trinket off a charm bracelet. I expect it might’ve once had a loop mounted at the top.

    I suppose it could alternately be a gaming token of some kind.

    It’s too crude to have ever fooled anyone in commerce.

    I don't have much sympathy for a buyer who thinks they're getting gold for $100+ below melt value.

    Deals like that occasionally do happen but almost never on Ebay, especially since their fees are 13.25% on coins if they haven't increased it. I've gotten gold coins for under melt from dealers at coin shows before, but they also don't have to pay $40-50 for every 1/10 oz of gold they sell.
