    I was thinking of putting this one on ebay. I know its not PCGS cert. but i was looking at info on the coin and from what i found there were only 700 proofs minted. what do you guys think its worth??
    PCGS says in PR64 its worth $3750 I know its probably lower than a pr64, or is it. tell me what you guys think.

    I can't help with the grade, but PCGS price list is always high. Looks like on heritage the auctions are going for around 2500 for PR64 coins. The first thing I would do is get it graded by someone else other than NTC. A proof 63 brings 1500 to 1600. That coin looks nice to me - assuming of course the scratches are on the holder and not on the coin.

    Good Luck!

    Just my opinion, but I don't think it's a Proof. If you wish to sell it I'd have it re-slabbed by NGC if it were me.

    Actually that was my thought. I'm not convinced it is struck up well enough to be a proof, and I know that NTC has really messed up with 19th century proof designations in the past.

    But, the prices for the circulation vs proof coins don't really vary that much for the 1874 Half.

    thanks for the advice guys. Do you think its worth getting it re-slabbed or see what i can get for it as is.

    as others have said, re-slab it.

    I would get it re-slabbed.
    Especially to correct the designation-- proof vs unc.

    even at a 63
    proof = $2350
    unc. = $2250

    Not much difference between proof and unc.

    I agree, it looks AU-58. Still a great looking coin though.
