My two favorites asses were part of a series Antoninus Pius struck to commemorate the 900th anniversary of Rome.

    ANTONINUS PIUS
    AE As. 11.34g, 27.8mm. RIC 694a.
Reverse depicts the parental units of Romulus and Remus about to discuss some family planning. Rhea Silvia was a vestal virgin, daughter of Numitor, the King of Alba Longa, and a descendant of Aeneas. Mars was the Roman god of war.

    ANTONINUS PIUS
    AE As. 11.02g, 28.6mm. RIC 733.
Reverse scene showing the White Sow of Lanuvium suckling her little ones.
Aeneas was a Trojan hero who escaped the fall of Troy. He journeyed with his followers to Latium, where a divine dream led him to found a new settlement at a site where he came across a white sow suckling her young by a river under an oak tree. On his way, he had a little fling with Dido, founder and queen of Carthage, whom he subsequently abandoned. It's perhaps no surprise then that when Aeneas's descendants went on found Rome that there would be a little bit of bad blood between the two great cities.

OK, so I dont own any 'middle bronzes'. But I cant help posting this one, a 'minor bronze' (no, not bronze but that is the general term):

SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Antioch. Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ As (24mm, 8.31 g, 6h). Rome mint, for circulation in Syria. Struck AD 119-138. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Lyre. McAlee 546; RIC II 684. Near VF, brown surfaces, flan crck.

=> no, you're correct (thanks for keeping me honest, Qude) ... however, it is from the same era as my three RR AE Asses, so I merely figured that I'd tossed it into that mix ...

    => it is
"Spain, Castulo Crescent Castele Series, AE Unit - As"

    https://cngcoins.com/Search.aspx?PAGE_NUM=&PAGE=1&TABS_TYPE=3&CONTAINER_TYPE_ID=2&IS_ADVANCED=1&ITEM_DESC=Spain, Castulo sphinx&ITEM_IS_SOLD=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_1=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_3=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_2=1

... so again, I merely tucked it in with the other asses from the late 2nd century BC (eh-heh-heh)

I think I feel an addiction coming on. I bought my first wolf coin yesterday. I think I'm hooked on Roman wolf coins now. :wacky:

    Patients Diagnosis:
The collection (feverish accumulation) of ancient coins.

    Symptoms:
Unexpected bouts of 'need' to go out and get yet 'another one', 'must...have....another coin' syndrome.

    Known Cure:
    None.

    Suggested Treatment:
Indulge patient to the fullest. Urge spouse, friends and relatives to be understanding. For example, excuse patients from daily chores and heavy household work to allow him to indulge his special 'needs'.
