Your bank should sell you a box. If they won't, you need another bank, and if the bank manager won't, you need another bank and to tell the bank manager why you need another bank. Having said that, knowledge is power. While these boxes may break the backs of the drivers, they don't cost your bank one thin dime, as your bank is already contracted-in. If they're not contracted-in, you need a bigger bank that is. If you make a routine of it, they may cut you off, but only for the tellers getting hernias lugging around the boxes for you. That's not to say they're obliged to accommodate you, as they're not. Neither was the Stardust Casino in Las Vegas obliged to comp me for restaurants and a room, but they did. Same rationale, they like the look of your money.
Up in Seattle I kept to a wide variety, down here that's not an option without paying for them. And I kinda like staying with quarters I've had some good luck with them. Like the one Wexler mentions in July's coin world. Can't get have's, not really interested in dimes or nickels. Occasionally go through cents. I still find some very interesting quarters. USMC60
I totally agree with you on that. But a lot of the businesses in my area, do not use have's and frankly do not like them from what I've heard. Because a lot of the customers refuse to take them in change. I guess it has to do with the area you live in. But you did give me a good idea. Down here in South Florida the only ones that are allowed to have casinos or the Indians just my luck one of the casinos is a few miles away. I guess it will be no harm in going up there and checking it out. The last I heard though that most of the slot machines there, no longer accepted change. Instead of going to the cashier to get change for the machines. They give you a debit card for the machines. At least that's what I've heard. I personally do not gamble nor do I have the money to.LOLBelieve me the bank that I've had down here for like eight years. When I came back home, went to the bank and got a box of quarters. After I finish the box went back to the bank, was told by the teller she could only accept six rolls a transaction. Had the young lady get the bank manager, he informed me of the same thing and showed me the bank policy in writing. I informed him on my long time customer and I've got this box of quarters from his bank. And now I want to the deposit it back into my account. He said sorry sir that's bank policy six rolls per transaction. So needless to say I am a hardheaded Marine, so I did 50 rolls at six rolls a transaction. Then after that I went back to the bank manager and proceeded to tell him to close my account. Then the polite bank manager actually came out and was apologetic and asked me if there was anything he could have done to keep my business. Leave me out change banks in a heartbeat if they don't treat me with respect. RMD again have to go.
Well I got a handful of rolls. No luck but maybe after turning them in I'll get a few more and try my hand again. Guess I ought to be pretty patient considering the amount of rolls a lot of people go through before finding any
Right now I am currently averaging 4.14 Silvers per box, 1 Silver per 237 coins. I'm searching 16000 coins per week, with a goal this year of 200 ounces. This week I found 23-40s, 7-90s including a 1970s. Found a 1970 d this past summer in a teller tray. It takes lots of work and consistency. I think I have gotten to the bottom of the Loomis barrel and I may switch to Brinks but like getting out of a grocery line that's taking too long, as soon as I do Loomis will resort or replenish their inventory. Last week I got a box with a Loomis location 5 hours north of my home base. (Yes, I track the Loomis box numbers, could just be a transfer but who knows.) You aren't going to pay the bills with this hobby, but its fun if you have the time and a means to zero cost your pick ups and dumps (no fees, no gas). I have though been able to finance some family extras with my finds. Good luck hunting!
I went through almost $200 worth today. Nothing yet but hopefully I'll find some soon mostly so I know they aren't completely elusive. Do you order directly from the company?
Many banks WON'T order them because if they even SMELL that you might be cherry-picking them and trying to bring most of them back, they refuse. They simply have no need for them in commerce. They're under no obligation to roll searchers.
I order from four branches, four boxes each. All the managers know me and have no problem. I never dump re wrapped rolls always dump them at my credit unions machine( no fee). Loomis doesn't allow non-commercial direct purchases that I am aware of
Oh How true. I know down here in South Florida, no one likes the haves. Like I've said no one likes the Presidential. Not in demand for them no need for the banks to acquire them. It looks like depends on your location and what the general public likes in that area. Like I've said earlier down here you really can't even give them away. But just out of curiosity. The members That are going through that many , how many are errors? All I know if a coin comes into my possession. It gets a thorough examination. Just curious. USMC60
