I fell in love with this coin as soon as I saw it. To me the portrait is very attractive. It features winged and draped Bust of Victory right with * below chin on the obverse and the reverse has Mars walking left holding spear and trophy, apex before and corn ear behind. The legend is L. VALERI FLACCI. It's RSC - Valera II and Sear 183.
What a fantastic and beautiful coin! I cannot find one thing to not like about her. I have never seen a portrait of Victory like that.
Gorgeous coin, and a great example that you have! I went and looked yours up in my Sear book, and I do not have it. HOWEVER, I WANT one now! VERY nice job capturing that beauty!
Yes, I think I got lucky on this one. It's the best example I have seen. I have seen other very nice ones though. I just had to have this one when I saw it. I probably over paid but I didn't care one bit. There are also some that are pretty poorly done.
I fell in love with the portrait on mine too, enough so to overlook the flan defect on the obverse. It's a beautiful type.
