Hello all. I am new to collecting and this last box of pennies was great. I found about 30 wheaties, a 1973 penny that seems to be on a Canadian planchet , 1960d (hopefully true double), 1969s-1974s all in beautiful condition. I know they are not the greatest of coins but just a fun box for us newbies.
Ok so I will list the 3 coins I am curious about.
1st is a 1992 penny with NH inside state of New Hampshire. Only thing I could find is that the primary was there for presidential election in 1992 so assuming it has something to do with that. Couldn't find 1 thing on it so someone tell me its a good 1. :)
    2nd I am listing a 1960D what I feel is a true doubled die
And last but not least a 1973 penny with square edges and that deep rim like a Canadian penny. Felt just like it in my hand till I looked down and saw Lincoln looking back.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Pics up in 5 min tops

60d not a doubled die, the NH is a counter stamped coin...

I've had about 5 1960s that look so close to the pic on Lincoln Cent Resource but this one is almost identical as far as the raised spots on it. Guess ill keep hunting. This hobby is addictive , frustrating at times and did I say addictive. Ill post a picture of my table at home. It looks like the federal reserve. Ha. Thanks for the help.

    Welcome!
Sorry but the NH penny is after-mint engraving. You can find all 50 states as these were simply novelty items sold hoping people would buy them to collect a set. If you keep searching pennies you will likely also one day find a Lincoln with a small face of JFK engraved facing Lincoln. Again, just novelty items.

The 1973 is damage likely caused by squeezing in a vice. Not that on the opposite side of the forced and raised rim is another flat spot indicating a vice clamping on both sides of the coin.

You 1960 D is a nice looking small date - I am not sure form the pics what you are seeing as doubling. Here is a reference page which may help. Note if yours is a small date, it would likely match http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/1960DDDO001.htm

You'll find yourself far from the only person here (/looks in the mirror) who can say just that. :)

Thank you all. I am trying to retain all of the info I gather. I was all over the place trying to get rolls of halves, quarters, dimes etc but wound up hooked on the good ol Honest Abes. There are just so many varieties and errors to look for. I have a lot more coins I am trying to identify the error and then I'll post. Hopefully I will get better at determining how to classify each one. I wish there was a place where I could go and be shown in person things to look for. Anyone have suggestions on how I could get in person tutor if you will. I know the one coin shop around here did not seem to be interested in answering many questions. I'm sure a lot were dumb questions but books only take you so far.
If anyone is in the Huntsville Alabama , Chattanooga, Nashville areas and wouldn't mind spending time at a coffee shop or wherever going over some coins and just sharing some knowledge that would be awesome. I'm buying food and drinks. Ill also be taking vacation finally so I can do some real hunting. Will be in Gettysburg then Massanutten Va for 10 days like the 9th of Feb on. Or maybe even a few people get together. I have received every answer I need on this forum and everyone has been very accepting to us newbs but it will take me forever to post the amount of coins in question.
I'm going to start making list of questions when I remember them. Like recently I purchased an 1880 S MS66 I think it is from HSN. Now I know its probably the worst place to buy a coin but being new collector I just felt better about paying well over 100 for $1. Ha. I thought about buying the rolls of last Kennedy halves. They are only the 40% coins which I am aware of but good starters for me. Has anyone had experiences with HSN and if so what should I avoid or not avoid? I know ebay you can get good deals but like I've read in other forums, you have to be careful on there. Now I'm not falling for the "unsearched" shotgun rolls with key date showing but I've heard that some machine doubled coins have sold for insane prices because people list them as true doubles and some people such as me wouldn't know for sure if what I'm bidding on is accurate.
Any suggestions on good sites to buy from or good coins to start with. I'm not just a silver guy. I like random interesting coins. U.S. for the most part but some foreign. I would really like to do my research on some early 19th c or earlier U.S. coins and add a few to my rapidly growing disease. Sorry for the 47 page book here but thank you for sticking around if you made it this far. My punctuation and grammar is horrible yes I know.
    Thanks again for all comments.

Wow that was a great link. I actually used variety vista the other day because I am pretty certain I may have a 1974 S RPMP which a few other never even heard of. I did not venture off deeper into the site but from the looks of the photos and amount of them per coin was great. I have just been using The Lincoln Cent Resource which is helpful but it does not break a coin down in that manner. Thanks for the help.

Already posted it but may have been on different thread. Attaching now. Also attached a 1983 D that has the reverse of a quarter visible in it. The edge outside of wings running up to the date and a very visible A in GOD. Someone told me what they thought it was but just wanted to get another set of eyes on it and see if worth having it looked at. Thanks for the help good sir. 0116172116.jpg 0116172117.jpg 0116172118.jpg 0116172118a.jpg 0116172128.jpg 0116172128b.jpg 0116172129.jpg 0116172129c.jpg
