1882 Shield 5 Cents

    The sharpness grade is EF-AU. The question is, what is the black stuff? If it's crud that can be removed easily, it's a potentially nice coin. There still could be problems under the crud. If the black stuff is solid, it's corrosion, and that's not good.

    I think it may have been the light and rubbish camera. I will try and get better pictures, thanks for the reply , allan

    Don't forget to crop. I use a program called PhotoScape for FREE. Try it out. Also, try a little "acetone" on that bad boy. ;)

    Stretching my photo-op it appears to be corrosion, especially at the bottom of the collar. Hope I'm wrong. Nice coin, good luck.

    EF-AU sharpness, as mentioned, but with some discoloration. Possibly (but hopefully not) from environmental damage.

    The stuff between "WE" and "TRUST" is raised. It's probably mostly crud, but it might have something under it.
