Bosporan Kingdom Electrum Stater of Sauromates II with Septimius Severus (minted in Pantikapaion in either 193 or 194):
My rarest is probably an As of Clodius Albinus that is a die match of the one in the British Museum, second rarest is a DI Patrii sestertius of Septimius Severus, but I do not have handy photographs and I think I previously posted both. Of the ones I do have photos of - before I purchased this I had never seen an example of Severus Alexander as Caesar in 26 years of collecting ancients - I would love to see a sestertius of Severus Alexander as Caesar if you have one please post it. I would love to see a Plautilla or Tranquillina sestertius too - these incredible rarities are just amazing to look at - Anna Faustina is another, although my Severus denarius is not as rare as either of those - still nice to look at, and it was purchased on ebay for all who think it is impossible to find nice coins on ebay: I hope I have not already posted it on this thread - The next is a Postumus sestertius of which there are supposed to be only a five known examples: And a Septimius Severus IMP X sestertius - quite lucky that the inscription wasn't fully worn, quite rare, also found on ebay:
Among my ancient coins, it has to be this one, a Gordian II. I have Gordian I, but it is not has nice. The Gordian I
Too nad Maximinus had not lived - if he had Roman history would have been very different - read Herodian - I was shocked that Maximinus wasn't the louse I had thought he was - he could have gone to Rome and lived it up - instead he fought for the empire and the ungrateful Senate destroyed him.
Roman Empire Gold Solidus of Constantius II (minted in Siscia sometime between 340 and 350): This coin is extremely rare on account of having the •SIS• mintmark instead of the ✱SIS✱ one.
Roman Empire Gold Aureus of Trajan (minted in Rome in either 113 or 114): There are only 18 known coins like mine.
Certainly not the prettiest coin around, but it's a Zenobia Tetradrachm. Based on how often I see coins of an individual come available, I'd say this is my rarest:
Kingdom of Epirus Gold Hemilitron of Alexander the Molossian (minted in Tarentum under the magistrate Apol sometime between 333 and 330 BCE): This coin is extremely rare, only one other example has been auctioned in over a generation.
