1918 S rim error

    This coin has an odd looking rim on it. It’s really deep all the way around the coin. Could someone tell me what this is please?

    Dryer coin or spooned. Look at the edge and see if there are a bunch of tiny whacks.

    That may have been one of my kindergarten creations sixty years ago. That poor cent was polished with an eraser and spooned. I was guilty of both in my youth.

    I'm not so sure it was spooned. It looks to me like one of those coins that has been forced into an aluminum or other metal collar, like the ones that say, "Lucky Penny, Keep Me and Never Go Broke." I used to have one, but not now, so no picture.
