IMG_5760.JPG IMG_5758.JPG IMG_5762.JPG IMG_5760.JPG IMG_5758.JPG Hi there, so I found a quarter in my change with no reeded edges, it also appears to be slightly thicker than a regular quarter and slightly larger too! The edges are perfectly smooth with no sign of any other color. Just wondering if it's an actual error or just worth its face value. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks guys. :)

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

    Spooned.

    And heavily polished.

Sorry I don't understand the terminology, so it's not worth anything really? I'd still keep it just because it's slightly odd!

Spooning is tapping the edge of a coin to make its diameter smaller. It displaces the metal naking the coin thicker. It is sometimes used in the process of making a coin ring.

Ah ok, thank you. But wouldn't that make the coin smaller in diameter then? My quarter is actually wider in diameter and thicker in thickness also than a normal quarter

I don't think that is a real quarter. Looks like George had a nose job to make it bigger. The date is really funky to. Please post a photo of the reverse.

    bdunnse Who dat?

It's a regular quarter encased in something that filled in the reeding and made the coin thicker and larger in diameter. Dipped in chocolate, then painted silver!

I agree! The nose is wrong. The mintmark is too big. IGWT is crowded together. It definitely has not been spooned because the outer edge is perfectly smooth and even.
