Some impressive fossils in this thread, I've enjoyed looking at them... BUT.... I will not buy more fossils, I will not buy more fossils....
JB, those trilobites look exceptional. I love the ones like you have that are still partially imbedded in the matrix/rock. Beautiful.
I guess if you are collecting coprolites then you are serious about fossils. Nice collection Mikey Zee! Blastoid Blastoids (Class Blastoidea) are an extinct type of stemmed echinoderm. Often called sea buds, blastoid fossils look like small hickory nuts. They originated, along with many other echinoderm classes, in the Ordovician period and reached their greatest diversity in the Mississippian subperiod of the Carboniferous period. However, some blastoids may have come from the Cambrian. Blastoids persisted until their extinction at the end of Permian, about 250 million years ago.
OMG, that's about as beautidul a Blastoise fossil as I've seen. I'm so jealous. You can even see where the stem was.
Utterly fabulous posts guys!! Damn, now I have a bigger itch to acquire even more Previous to my recent purchases (meant primarily for the grandkids), I only had one remaining example of a trilobite and almost pulled the trigger on a few complete 'dino egg' specimens years ago....but I see so many gorgeous types here that I know I'll be after a few more in the months to come....and COINS too of course LOL
It looks nothing like a Blastoise... Ok, maybe abit like a Blastoise . But seriously, folks, cool fossils. Maybe if I ever tire of spending all my discretionary money on these damn coins...
I have a huge collection at my mother's house that I don't have pictures of. However, here are most of my trilobites: And here is one I just ordered: Soon, there will be a 5" ammonite in the mix, but I first need to make sure the funds are in place before I order.
I just got sad. I was looking for a fossil video on YouTube and I came across a video about how dinosaur fossils are a hoax, and dinosaur bones are made from chicken bones to defraud the public. Something to do with some Illuminati plan to control the public. Between that and the flat earthers' videos, I seriously fear for the scientific literacy of our society.
Seeing these fossils makes me want to try my hand and preparing them. Somehow I think it would be more satisfying than cleaning "uncleaned" coins
Here are my fossils: I would LOVE to have a Trex tooth. I'd also love to have a piece of a meteorite from Mars. I really wish trilobites were still around. I would love to have one as a pet. Erin
