If you are looking for the super extremely rare Small Date 1982 D mint mark on Copper Planchet.. just forget it. You will drive yourself absolutely nuts and will never find one. I have seen hundreds of posts on this forum, Facebook coin pages and eBay of people thinking they have found one, but they have always been incorrect! Only two examples have ever been discovered and properly attributed. Many coin experts doubt that a third example will ever be found
The crazy part of this whole thing is how many people don't even know what they're looking for. They either think any 1982 small date weighing 3.1g is valuable, or they don't know how to distinguish a small date from a large date.
WANTED - The 1982 D, 3.1 wt. Small date, Lincoln Cent. Although, a FULL set of 82's is also tough to find.
If you mean including the 1982-D small date copper, sure. The other 7 I found pretty easily and then spent them.
3.1 now add .3 = 3.4 Now take any Lincoln cent @ 3.9 wt .........never heard of it. I could be wrong and that's why I'm throwing it out there.
The scale shows 3.09 not 3.9 two totally different weights. 3.09 is actually a little bit less than 3.1, 3.9 would be quite a bit overweight.
Well, there ya go. Within the tolerance limit. 3.09 I would like to see the snowman effect of the 8. Top ring much smaller than the bottom ring of the 8. Snowman's head, and his body. What? That's another way to a small date.
