had a crap couple weeks trying to upgrade my trade dollar for my type set with little to no luck... came across this puppy in my hunting and watchlisted it. Dealer made me an offer for $50 I jumped Ok it's not a US trade dollar, but I didn't realize anyone was still minting trade dollars until seeing this one the other night. Anyone collecting these? seem to be quite a few in the series...
I've never heard of these, but this one looks really cool. Sounds like if someone wants a trade dollar, they should start out with this; since it may be a lesser-known series, it is likely to be very rarely counterfeited.
Nice coin! I assume it was minted in the UK because it was produced by East India Company. But EIC does not own mints (AFAIK) but has Royal Mint or Pobjoy do the actual minting. Anyone know which one made this coin? Cal
