My only other coin from Scotland (pre-UK) is a copper I found in a junk bin by chance.
This one has a little chunk out of it, which brought if down into my price range.
I guessed as to the orientation of the reverse, but think it may be... reversed.

Are you sure this one is Copper? As far as I can see from the book I have, no coins were officially minted with this reverse except in 0.917 Silver. If it is definitely copper it would most likely be a contemporary forgery, but it looks like tarnished silver to me.
Also, what is the size? As far as I can see the design for 1682 is very similar for coins all the way from a Half Merk up to 4 Merks.
I don't collect Scottish coins, but I do find them interesting. The only one I have is this Merk from 1673, the same size as an English Shilling from the same era.

Sorry, I phased that unclearly. My only other Scottish coin is a copper I got from a junk bin. This one is silver. It's a little over 24 mm diameter.

Ah, good. I see it now. At 24mm the OP will be another Merk I think.
