Hypothetically speaking, would you rather have say a Silver coin in a bezel or "Holed"? I prefer holed because you can leave as is or plug the hole. I own both BTW (copper/ Silver)..... Ready, Set, Go! Comments welcome. No polls here.
Bezel, as the damage may be there but not in a major focal point. The hole or repair is going to attract the eye immediately. The Bezel damage should be less apparent but there may be differences in wear due to the coin actually being worn as jewelry.
I would not really care. All I see is a hole. Would you rather have a coin with die scratches or die polish on it?
Not my style. A personal gift from a family member. Thought it my help to view what was a finished piece.
I have a few coins in a 14k bezel, some with a jump ring like the pic below. None with a hole but I have a few tokens with holes, made that way.
Most of the time I prefer a bezel. I've seen some very well done repairs. I doubt I could detect some of them! https://www.numismaticnews.net/archive/can-you-spot-the-repaired-holes
Here is the oldest holed coin I have. Close examination shows that the hole was made before it was buried, about the time it was issued I would guess.
I prefer neither but if I had to choose it would be in a bezel. You can’t see the damage as long as the coin remains in the bezel. And if removed, the bezel may be worth a little something in addition to the coin.
