I am getting pretty good at attributing these RPMs but unfortunately I didn't post this one before I submitted the coin. Why unfortunate you ask? Well, you will have to read the entire post to find out. This coin is an RPM-005 which corresponds to NGC's VP-003 under their Variety Plus classification system. The coin is pretty easy to grade, a full step premium gem. Obverse: Reverse: Steps: Mintmark: My Photo Mintmark: NGC Photo Mintmark: Variety Vista Photo Obverse Die Crack Top of Head: My Photo Obverse Die Crack Top of Head: Variety Vista Photo Obverse Die Crack Shoulder: My Photo Obverse Die Crack Shoulder: Variety Vista Photo So what do my pals at NGC do? Well, they got the grade correct MS66 5FS, and then attributed it as VP-005 which is Coneca RPM-004 Mintmark of RPM-004: NGC Photo The RPM-004 doesn't have a die crack in the hair and the pick up point is a die crack outside column 4 which my coin doesn't have. It is absolutely exhausting dealing with this company!!!!
Sorry to see that. All the grading companies continue to have issues and make obvious mistakes. Hopefully NGC agrees with you and fixes it for free.
I am so dreading the phone call because the people who answer the phone have almost no coin knowledge.
Have you thought of using VSS. You know someone who gets it right the first time. I haven't used him so I really don't know the difference in value.
