Damaged Silver Eagle On Ebay....

I saw this today, it seems it has had a rough past.
Right now it is at $31 with shipping.
I don't know how it could have been damaged like this.

It is damaged.

 

Careless owners is how it was damaged. An untold number of scenarios could be told about the life of this ASE.

 

Probably some sort of a crude bezel. Why would anyone buy it? The nice ones are “dirt common.”

Many years ago I spotted a silver quarter that had been hammered into a square in a junk box of coins for well under going rate for “junk silver.” A savvy junk box collector I knew, told me to stay away from it. The market price scrap, well below melt.

 

Used for flipping, landed on concrete a few too many times.

 

If the price is right, would make a good test subject for an American Eagle ring.

 

Buy it and tell your grandchildren it got damaged in the Gulf War, just an idea.

That's insane, ASE's are great but I like ones that haven't been abused!
