I went to the laundromat a couple times in the last month or so and struck out, but this last haul produced this 64 quarter. It looks better in hand than this picture shows. It's got some nice toning. I'm going back later today. Hopefully my luck will continue.
Another member here found a 1941 in the Laundromat also, May 7th https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1941-quarter.417472/#post-26184374
These are all of the quarters I've found in the last year and a half or so...all from the laundromat.
Yes, the laundromats have a machine that you put in paper money and the machine dispenses quarters. The washers and dryers only take quarters.
Haven't been to a Laundromat in years (over 35 years to be more exact). They still take change, huh? I wonder how much it cost today to a load (wash/dry)?
How many quarters do you have to go through? Do the laundromats ever give you a hard time or are you ever asked to replace the quarters that you take? I used to go through rolls of coins from banks but many banks are reluctant to give out a lot of rolls where I live even if you become a member of the bank.
I haven’t been for a long time either but my brother in law goes weekly and lets me know. Not sure what the cost is but he says to wash and dry two loads is about $10.00. In a year doesn’t that just about but a washer?
When I used to go to laundromats you got your quarters there using paper money in a money changer. No one on duty, all self serve. The laundromat replaces the quarters by emptying all of the washers and dryers. It’s like a self contained business.
Are the coin-operated machines still completely mechanical (put quarters in slots, push in the slider, it eats the quarters)? If so, they may not reject silver the way self-checkouts and CoinStars do. (But then I'd also expect them to take slugs, which would turn into a big problem.)
Maybe it's not a about getting the machines?? Maybe it's all about the babes that flock there? Is he married by chance?
Yeah. That's all I do. Just stick in a few $20s and go home with my stash. Sometimes there's something, but other times there's nothing. It's about 50/50. Not too long ago I got 3 Ws from the same haul! Can you believe it?
I have my own washer and dryer. I just go and relieve the laundromat of quarters a couple times a month. The one I go to takes coins but some of the larger machines take accept cards now.
I get whatever i can afford at the time. Usually $100 or so. I get them home and separate them by designs...eagles, states, etc. Nobody has ever said anything to me or posted a sign forbidding it, though I do wait and go after 3 o'clock when no employees are there just in case. Lol
That's how this one is. Though there is someone there during various times of the day to clean and stuff. One of them a while back told me she leaves at 3 o'clock every day and that's when I strike. Lol
About a year and a half ago when I got my first silver I was shocked. I thought that absolutely no modern machines took silver. But I guess laundromat machines still do.
